FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is Wink & Wag?

Wink & Wag is a passion-driven pet photography project rooted in compassion, accessibility, and deep respect for animals. While I photograph pets of all ages, I specialize in end-of-life pet photography, offering those sessions completely free of charge so families can preserve memories during incredibly tender moments.

This isn’t a traditional photography business. Tt’s something I do because I love animals and believe every pet deserves to be celebrated.

How much does a session cost?

Wink & Wag operates on a Pay What You Can (PWYC) model.

That means:

  • There is no required fee for a session
  • You may contribute any amount, or nothing at all
  • Contributions are never expected and never pressured

If you choose to contribute, 100% of that money goes into a dedicated savings account to help offset gas and travel costs for free end-of-life pet photography sessions. This allows me to continue offering those sessions at no cost to families who need them most.

Are end-of-life sessions really free?

Yes. Always.

End-of-life sessions are never charged, regardless of location or length. My goal is to remove financial stress from an already emotional time and focus entirely on your pet’s comfort and your family’s needs.

What areas do you service?

I am based in Cobb County, GA, which is my primary service area.

  • Cobb County: No travel fee
  • Metro Atlanta (outside Cobb): $20 gas fee
  • North Georgia: $50 gas fee + Saturday availability only

If you’re unsure whether your location is covered, feel free to reach out — I’m always happy to discuss options.

Where do sessions take place?

Whenever possible, sessions happen at your home. Home is where most pets feel safest and most like themselves, especially seniors, anxious pets, or those nearing the end of life.

That said, sessions can also take place at:

  • Pet-friendly parks or trails
  • Quiet outdoor spaces your pet already loves
  • Locations suggested by Wink & Wag

I always prioritize comfort, accessibility, shade, and minimal stress over aesthetics.

What if my pet has anxiety, reactivity, or medical needs?

That’s completely okay and very common.

I have extensive experience with:

  • Anxious and reactive dogs
  • Senior pets with mobility issues
  • Special needs pets
  • Exotic animals with specific handling requirements

Please be honest in your intake form. There is zero judgment here. The more I know, the better I can adapt the session to keep everyone safe and comfortable.

What if my pet doesn’t “cooperate”?

Perfect. Neither do mine.

Wink & Wag sessions are pet-led, not pose-driven. I don’t expect pets to sit, stay, smile, or look at the camera. I work with whatever your pet offers, whether it’s lopsided smiles, tongue-out moments, sniff breaks, or naps included.

Some of the most meaningful images come from imperfection.

How long is a session?

There is no strict time limit.

Most sessions average around 30 minutes, but I’m never watching the clock. If your pet needs breaks, extra time, or a slower pace, we take it. Especially for end-of-life sessions, there is no rush.

Can humans be in the photos?

Yes but only if you want to be.

Some families love having photos with their pets. Others prefer the focus to stay entirely on the animal, especially during emotional sessions. Both choices are valid, and I will always respect your comfort level.

Can I bring other pets?

If time and energy allow, I’m happy to include animal siblings with the understanding that the primary focus will remain on the featured pet, especially for end-of-life sessions.

Too many pets or people can be overstimulating, so I may recommend keeping things simple.

What about leashes and safety rules?

For safety reasons:

  • Pets must be leashed in unfenced or public areas
  • Owners are responsible for their pet at all times
  • Sessions may be paused or ended if a pet becomes stressed or unsafe

No photo is worth risking a pet’s wellbeing.

What happens if the weather is bad?

Extreme heat, storms, or unsafe conditions may require rescheduling.

I will always prioritize your pet’s safety and comfort and will never penalize weather-related changes. Early morning sessions are often recommended during warmer months.

When will I receive my photos?

You’ll receive a Google Drive link within one week of your session (often sooner).

Your gallery will include:

  • Smaller files for sharing online
  • Larger files for printing
  • Color and black & white edits
  • A folder of raw/outtakes (because sometimes the blurry chaos is part of the story)

Please download your gallery within two weeks, as Drive folders are periodically cleared. I do keep personal backups of end-of-life sessions and can reupload if needed.

Are the photos watermarked?

No. All delivered images are high-resolution and unwatermarked.

If you choose to share your photos on social media, tagging @wink.and.wag is always appreciated but never required.

Can I request non-pet photography?

No.

Wink & Wag is exclusively for pet-focused photography. Requests for maternity, newborn, engagement, family-only, or other human-centered sessions will not be accepted.

This boundary exists to protect the accessibility and integrity of the PWYC and end-of-life services.

Do you photograph exotic pets?

Yes! I have extensive experience with exotic animals including rodents, reptiles, amphibians, birds, and more.

If you have an exotic pet you’d like photographed, please mention it in your intake form so I can plan accordingly. Bonus points if it’s a snake.

How do I book a session?

You can start by filling out the Session Request Form on my website. From there, I’ll reach out via email to confirm details and next steps.

Before the session, you’ll be asked to review and acknowledge the Wink & Wag Service Agreement to ensure clarity and safety for everyone involved.

Still have questions?

If something isn’t covered here, feel free to reach out via the contact page or email. I’m always happy to talk through concerns, ideas, or special circumstances.

Thank you for trusting Wink & Wag, it truly means the world.
