End-of-Life FAQ

Because every story deserves a beautiful ending.

At Wink & Wag, end-of-life sessions are more than just photography. They’re a quiet celebration of love, loyalty, and a life well-lived. This FAQ is here to guide you through what to expect, how to prepare, and how this service works. If you have additional questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

💸 What is the cost, and what areas do you service?

The heart of Wink & Wag is accessibility. I operate on a Pay What You Can (PWYC) model to ensure that no pet parent has to miss out on these memories due to financial hardship.

  • Cobb County residents (Kennesaw, Marietta, Smyrna) and Metro Atlanta residents willing to travel to Cobb County:
    Always free of charge.
→ Any tips go directly into a fund for families who cannot afford a session at all.
  • Other Metro Atlanta residents (e.g., Alpharetta, Decatur, Norcross, Johns Creek):
$50 gas fee to cover travel. This can be negotiated if you’re in North Metro Atlanta and therefore closer to me.
→ Tips still go into the assistance fund.
  • North Georgia residents (Woodstock, Cumming, Canton, Jasper, Ellijay, Blue Ridge, Blairsville, Hiawassee):
$50 gas fee, with sessions offered only on Saturdays.
→ Tips go toward the same fund for families in need.

Regardless of location, you will receive high-resolution, unwatermarked images freely yours to print, share, and treasure. I only ask, if you post on social media, to please tag @wink.and.wag (on Instagram) or the Wink & Wag Facebook Page — not as a collaboration post, but simply in the caption. This helps other families discover these sessions.

🏡 Where do the sessions happen?

Sessions typically happen in your home/yard, where your pet feels safest and most comfortable. Even small apartments can produce beautiful, cozy imagery.
If you’re traveling to me in Cobb County, I have a growing list of pet-friendly outdoor spots I’ve personally scouted. You’re welcome to pick from this list or suggest a favorite location of your own. My priority is always comfort and connection, both for you and your pet.

🕰️ What should I expect?

Before the Session

Please email me at WinkAndWagPhotography@gmail.com or use the contact form. Include the following:

  • Your name & your pet’s name/species/breed
  • Your city of residence (and if applicable, whether I should travel to you or if you’re able/willing to drive to East Cobb, Marietta)
  • Preferred session location (either your home, a place from my list or suggest a spot you and your pet love)
  • Preferred timeframe (Sessions are only available on Tuesdays & Saturdays)
  • Any special accommodations your pet may need

During the Session

  • Bring any meaningful props: favorite toys, blankets, clothes, flowers, etc.
  • Most photos will be candid and focused on your pet with no pressure for them to “pose.”
  • Human + pet portraits are welcome but never required. I understand that grief may make you want to stay behind the lens. I respect your boundaries always.
  • Sessions typically last about 30 minutes, but I will stay as long as needed. There are no time limits.
  • Emotion is welcome here: tears, laughter, quiet reflection. Feel free to share stories. I listen and hold space.

After the Session

  • You’ll receive a Google Drive link to your photos within 1 week (typically within 24-48 hours).
  • The folder will include:
    • One set of high-res files for printing
    • One set of smaller files for sharing
    • Both in color and black-and-white versions

Please download your images within 2 weeks. If you miss the window, don’t worry. I back up all sessions and can re-upload if needed.

☁️ Weather & Rescheduling Policy

Outdoor sessions depend on the weather, and pets (and cameras) don’t usually love soggy paws or scorching heat. If the weather isn’t right, we’ll reschedule with care and flexibility.

If you’re traveling to me, I’ll let you know as far in advance as possible if the shoot should be postponed due to weather concerns. If I’m traveling to you, I’ll keep an eye on your local forecast and communicate any concerns. We’ll always find a new date that feels right, no stress and no fuss.

🚫 A Note on Non-Pet Session Requests

These sessions are about honoring the lives of beloved pets nearing the end of their journey. This means I do not accept requests for unrelated photography sessions such as:

  • Maternity shoots
  • Newborn portraits
  • Solo family photos (without pets)
  • Engagement or wedding shoots

Please understand that this is not about being exclusive; rather, it’s about staying true to the purpose of this service: to offer compassionate, affordable, and focused end-of-life photography for pets and their people. Attempting to book these sessions under false pretenses disrespects the families this offering is intended to support. Such requests will be declined without exception.

🐾 Final Notes & Disclaimers

Please limit human attendees to only those who have a deep bond with the pet. Extra people can be overwhelming for both me and your pet.

If your pet has animal siblings, I’m happy to include them briefly if time and energy allow but this session is primarily for your pet facing their final chapter.

I hold full discretion when accepting session requests. These are emotionally sacred moments, and I aim to honor them fully and respectfully.

💛 Thank You

Your trust means everything. These sessions are heavy, yes, but they are also deeply beautiful. I am honored to hold space for you and your pet during this tender time. If you have more questions or simply need a kind voice to talk to, I’m here.
